These 2 holiday houses on the coastline of Peru which sit prominently at the top of a rock cliff overlooking the beach and ocean, are anchored into the rock with a stone sculptural plinth rising up to the living levels, concealing a basement floor below.

Ferrari Launches Tailor Made Personalization Program

Not long ago, we witnessed Italian luxury car maker Ferrari roll out a program that caters to their elite buyers club and now the auto company has upped the selection of perks that cherished customers can receive in appreciation.  The name of the program is appropriately dubbed “Tailor Made” because the Ferrari elite will get to personalize the new Ferrari’s before shipping.

The elite club already reserves and extends first refusal of new cars but three new customization packages have been added with the Tailor Made program. Customization options include the Scuderia sporting package, the Classica package based on classic GT styling and The Indita package that has a versatile choice of options to create a totally unique Ferrari.  Learn more about the Tailor Made package at Ferrari.com.

 

When Amber Doyle and Jake Mueser opened their signature boutique, Doyle Mueser, earlier this year, the Fashion Institute of Technology grads were banking on the notion that young urban men (and women) would invest in bespoke clothing if it was presented in a hip, clublike environment rather than a stuffy tailor’s shop. So they took care to create a modern boutique with an old-world look in their intimate 350-square-foot space at 16 Christopher Street in New York’s West Village. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Doyle Mueser serves up glasses of Balvenie single-malt Scotch as clients are measured for a suit and peruse the wide array of fine fabrics—from super 200s to super 220s—offered by such top textile mills as Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Harrisons of Edinburgh, and Scabal. 

Although the shop stocks custom-designed, American-made clothing off the rack, the focus is on classically styled bespoke suits, many served with a twist. The suits sold off the rack tend to be more English in cut, with a sculpted body, roped shoulders, and high armholes, says Mueser. Unlike most custom clothiers, however, the shop doesn’t dictate any particular “house style” when it comes to custom. “We aren’t rigid about making suits that fit into our private sartorial prejudices,” says Mueser, noting how this year Doyle Mueser crafted everything from slim-cut dinner jackets and tuxedos to double-breasted suits and half-belted Norfolk blazers. All of the suits feature full floating camelhair canvas inner lining, hand-stitched buttonholes, and pick-stitched lapels, among other artisan details. Off-the-rack suits start at $2,700, while bespoke clothing is priced from $3,500. The shop also offers a number of additional amenities, including one-off jewelry and accessories by in-house designer Ryan Matthew, and a seasonal shirt service whereby, for a fee, a new custom-made shirt is delivered to your door every season, every other month, or, for $3,300, once a month. 2013 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder to sell for $1.1 million

 

Making them bossy, tough and fast is what Hennessey has done till date. We had earlier seen the VelociRaptor APV Wagon which had armor protection features amongst others, and this time it’s the 2013 Venom GT Spyder which is the talk of the moment. Produced in a limited edition of around 5 vehicles a year, each of them is stated to command a price of $1.1 million. If company records are to be believed, than of first set of 5 cars already has 2 of them sold out and will be delivered from 2012 onwards.

Looking at the Hennessey Venom one can’t help but notice the imposing large size. The use of carbon fiber has ensured that despite this factor, the total weight doesn’t go beyond 2,640-lbs thus allowing the engine to do a lot more in terms of efficiency of the pickup. After all, when it travels from 0-100 km/ph in just 2.2 seconds and goes up to 422 km/ph at max, a lighter weight body could really be essential. The main power producing factor is the V8 design which gives an output of 1200 HP, giving the driver the thrill of speed and power like never before. The 6-speed Ricardo gearbox also helps here.
